It’s a few days to the end of what has been a chequered year. In less than two weeks, 2014 will, like every other year before it, sink into the bottomless ocean of history, never to surface again. All that will be left of it are memories (some good and others not so good) and the lingering effects of our actions (or inactions) over the last twelve months.

So how’s  your 2014 been so far?

Wait.

Don’t  just  say ‘fine’.

Pause.

Think about it.

How has it R-E-A-L-L-Y  been for you?

*I suggest you take a few minutes to think  about that before reading further -it’s important*

There’s this quote I stumbled upon, can’t recall where exactly but it’s so beautiful. Here:

The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

So true, it’s worth reading twice. Those who get ahead in life, who make swift progress, who truly live by design, do so while others are ‘whiling away time’ and ‘chilling’. There’s nothing sudden or magical about it; it’s all about what they did with the ‘down times’.

It’s that time of the year again, and there’s a ‘chilling’ epidemic on the loose. The atmosphere is relaxed,  and (almost) everyone is in a happy go lucky mood. It’s the season to celebrate, to have fun and enjoy the company of friends and dearly loved ones. Beautiful season I tell you.

But even as we kick back in this season, let’s not forget that the new year is just around the bend. 2015 WILL NOT  wait for us- it’s coming and it’s coming fast!

Consider:

Do you think it’s wise to cut out some time in this season to separate yourself, reflect and honestly evaluate the last 12 months- YOUR last 12 months?

Do you think it’d be smart to consciously start making definite plans for the year ahead?

Would it be wise to set some tangible goals for your 2015 right now, even before it starts?

Here’s my question today:

HOW BADD DO YOU  WANT TO HAVE A PHENOMENAL  2015?

Is it a passive wish, just a hope, or a desperate craving to make the year count and maximise it?

Be sincere with yourself: how badd  do you R-E-A-L-L-Y  want to have a great 2015?

How important is it to you to find out God’s plan for your life for the next 12 months?

Is it something you cannot do without or just what you’d like to have if it ever shows up?

Would YOU (yes YOU!) be scared to go into 2015 without clear, precise divine instructions for the year ahead or you’d be cool with just making it up as you go along?

Are you, dear young person, willing to say like Moses, “if Your Presence does not go with me, do NOT carry us up from here!”? [Exodus 33:15]

Do you want it bad enough to go seek it out,  or are you waiting for it to drop on your laps?

I ask again:

HOW BADD DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A PHENOMENAL 2015?

Don’t skim through this blog today. Interact with it. Question yourself. Be real with yourself dear young person.

Many are sleeping this season. Many just can’t wait for the new year. And I’m asking myself,

“What/where am I hurrying to without a clear plan, clear instructions and clear strategies?

Is it all about entering another year?

Where is the drafted plan for 2015?

Where are the documented instructions?

Where are the thought-through strategies?

Am I really ready for a different experience in the new year or am I running along with the crowds, clinging solely to mindless optimism?

Am I preparing for an awesome year or wishing for one?

I ask again:

HOW BADD DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A PHENOMENAL 2015?

Think on these things, dear young person. Think on these things.

Merry Christmas and a Phenomenal New Year ahead!

Live by Design.
