We’re so so sorry we made no entries yesterday. We planned to but unforseen circumstances forced our hand. Hope we’re forgiven. Thank you. Enjoy today’s entry.
One of the most important changes that takes place in the life of the believer is the shift in desire. In the past, you fixated on pleasing yourself and ‘not letting anyone tell you what to do with your life’. Now, you’re under new management and your heart pants after another desire – the desire to please God.
But if you’ve ever had an itchy throat, you understand that having a desire and meeting it are different. That’s why we embarked on the #GrowMyFire journey; to learn how to scratch that itch at the back of the throat (figuratively).
For a first-time traveller, the smartest move would mean connecting with those who’ve been to your destination to get a clear picture of what you need to make the best of the trip.
So do you really want to give God glory with your life?
Then hunt down the best possible example and learn from their experience.
I have glorified you on the earth:
That’s what we’re searching for! Jesus did it. His entire life, summed up in those seven words.
There’s hope for us then; we have our example. But how did he pull it off?
I have glorified you on earth: I HAVE FINISHED THE WORK WHICH YOU GAVE ME TO DO.
That’s it. That’s what we are looking for.
Get this. Jesus, our perfect example, glorified God by finishing his work; by living out his fire. He delivered his mission, the dream, the vision for his life.
And that glorified God.
‘Giving God glory’ is not some hazy, high-sounding spiritual ideal.
It is practical. It is definite. And it can be done every day of your life.
How? Commit to the work God has given you. Resign yourself to your fire. Let it burn in your heart every day.
If you forget every other thing on this journey, keep this.
THE ESSENCE OF MY QUEST TO #GROWMYFIRE IS NOT THE PURSUIT OF PERSONAL GAIN; BUT GOD’S GLORY.
I’ll wait while you read that again. Therefore, take consistent steps to discover, develop and deploy your fire. Wherever you are, shine the light. Live it out. Then at the end of your journey, you can say just like Jesus,
I [insert your name] have glorified you on earth: I HAVE FINISHED THE WORK [insert your fire] WHICH YOU GAVE ME TO DO.
Live by Design.
